The article focuses on intraoperative floppy iris syndrome (IFIS) and ways to deal with it. According to the author, the alpha receptor blocker tamsulosin is linked with intraoperative miosis and iris prolapse during routine cataract surgery known as IFIS. This condition can lead to surgical conditions conducive to serious complications such as capsular rupture, vitreous loss and loss of nuclear fragments into the vitreous cavity. There are a number of ways to prevent it including the use preoperative and intraoperative medications.
