A research study is presented which examines diaminobutane dendrimers (DAB) for reducing blood phosphorus in the management of hyperparathyroidism secondary to chronic kidney disease. Dendrimer compounds were found to reduce the absorption of inorganic phosphate in a dose-dependent manner. The results of the study suggest the potential use of dendrimer compounds for the binding of food phosphate.
