The article examines how the Earth's core is retrieved and stored for scientific analysis in the Antarctic Geological Drilling Programme (ANDRILL) in Antarctica. The ANDRILL project drilled the rock core to a record depth of 1,285 meters below the Antarctic sea floor using a three tube coring system. Once the core sample is retrieved, it then undergoes a tectonic or stress fracture analysis and a physical properties analysis using various electronic scanning techniques.
