The article presents information on inks. The black liquid of the cuttle fish was considered as the first ink. It is now being manufactured using nutgalls and sulphate of iron chemically mixed with gum arabic in contrast with early inks that uses soot. A solution of nitrol of silver in ammonia made up the ingredients of indelible inks.
