The clinicopathologic features of thyroglossal duct cyst when it develops ectopically in the thyroid gland remain unclear because of its rarity, which makes diagnosis difficult. Clinical diagnosis and treatment should not disregard the possibility of thyroglossal cysts located in the thyroid gland.
