Indonesia is a country rich in biodiversity, one of which is trees. There are several types of trees in Indonesia and the island with the largest tree population is the islands of Kalimantan and Papua. Therefore, many Indonesian people use trees for furniture or as building materials. However, due to illegal logging and forest fires that usually occur during the dry season, the tree population in Indonesia is decreasing, therefore in the construction sector, the use of wood has been replaced by cold-form or hot-rolled. One of the hot-rolled products that are often used is the IWF profile and the IWF profile can still be improved its ability to withstand loads by cutting the body in a zig-zag manner and then the pieces are put back together by welding to form a new profile and are known as with the name castellated beam. And in this study, the strength of the IWF, Hexagonal Beam, and Octagonal Beam profiles will be compared by reviewing the effect of increasing their height using the finite element method. In the Hexagonal Beam profile, the openings in the body are planned according to the AISC Design Guide-31 and the Octagonal Beam is formed from the Hexagonal beam profile with the addition of Spacer Plates. Based on the results of the analysis using the finite element method, it was found that from the IWF profile, Hexagonal Beam and Octagonal Beam increased, but an alternative model 6 or the last model, Octagonal Beam with a profile height of 300 mm, the strength decreased by 5% from alternative model 5.
