The article reflects on how the COVID-19 pandemic provided opportunity to equitably improve meal provision in various settings. It reports the low participation in the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program in the U.S. in the early stages of transition to more flexible models of meal delivery as school ceased in-person instruction. It discusses challenges to meal innovations and actions taken to close gaps in knowledge regarding the efficacy and feasibility of meal delivery.
