J‐aggregation of dyes is a unique type of fluorescence aggregation phenomenon exhibiting bathochromic shift and higher absorption coefficient compared to the nonaggregated monomeric form. The incorporation of J‐aggregation dyes with polymeric nanoassemblies endows the former with enhanced microstructural stability and aqueous dispersity, as well as functional integration. Importantly, near‐infrared (NIR) polymeric J‐aggregates have been widely used for in vivo imaging and therapeutic functions. This perspective aims to discuss recent trends of J‐aggregate formation within polymeric nanoassemblies either covalently conjugating or physically encapsulating specific fluorescent dyes. Current challenges and future opportunities are also summarized for the subfield of polymeric J‐aggregates. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
