Introduction IBS is a condition characterized by abdominal pain or discomfort with changes in stool frequency or consistency. It is thought to be a multi-cause disease. IBS is among the most common gastrointestinal disorders with a prevalence ranging from 5%-20% in the general population worldwide Materials and Methods A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted amongst Men and Women in the age group between 20-50 years were included in the study. A sample of 100 participants was included in the study. ROME Criteria III was used to asses and includes patients. A structured questionnaire was filled and assessed before and after 3 months. Results Bowel habit improved in 70% of the participants, symptoms worsened in 12 % and no change was reported by 18%. Majority of the participants were relived of the pain and discomfort. Conclusion Regular exercise, smoking cessation, abstinence from alcohol, and maintenance of regular healthy habits can improve the quality of life in patients with IBS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
