Sub- sequent chapbook editions were printed in Kendal (1770 and 1771), Whitehaven (1772) and London (1772).[2] These printings helped to increase awareness of Brown's I Description i , which was widely quoted and reprinted thereafter. But there is reason to think that the manuscript may be related to the version of the I Description i published in the I Newcastle Chronicle i in May 1765.[13] This pos- sible relationship is noteworthy, because the I Newcastle Chronicle i printing can be linked with the Newcastle chapbook. In a previous issue of I The Library i , I drew attention to a handful of hitherto undocumented printings of John Brown's I Description of the Lake at Keswick i .[1] Brown's I Description i is an early, influential account of Derwent Water in the English Lake District.
