Laparoscopic radical cystectomy (LRC) and/or robot-assisted radical cystectomy (RARC) have been proposed to provide oncological outcomes comparable to that of ORC, with lower morbidity. Open radical cystectomy (ORC) is currently the standard surgical procedure for the treatment of invasive bladder cancer. Although there might no longer be patients left to enroll for LRC-related studies, further large-scale prospective randomized trials are warranted to improve the oncological outcome after minimally invasive surgery for patients with locally advanced bladder cancer.
