The article explores opportunities to support optimal health for children in the Medicaid program in the U.S. Noted is what can be learned from the COVID-19 pandemic. Topics discussed include social determinants of child health, methods for optimizing health for children including facilitating medicaid enrollment and responding to increasing social needs, and how the COVID-19 pandemic has further highlighted inequities in the current health care system.
