The purpose of this study was to examine and predict conflict styles in an intercultural conflict from personal values and intercultural communication apprehension (ICA). We used a comparative approach, employing data (N = 455) from Germany (N = 221) and Russia (N = 234) to establish some common patterns and provide a more detailed insight into this phenomenon. As predicted, both countries displayed common patterns of relationships. The self-transcendence values were positively associated with the preference for a collaborating style. Self-enhancement values were positively correlated with the preference for a dominating style, and conservation values with the preference for an avoiding style. A high level of ICA was an obstacle to the adoption of a collaborating style. These findings were discussed within the historical and sociocultural context of these 2 countries. Public Significance Statement: This study shows that personal values and intercultural communication apprehension play a predictive role for conflict style preferences in an intercultural conflict in Russian and German samples.
