The article reports that evidence demonstrates the benefits of regular physical activity to population health and well-being. About 25% of adults worldwide do not meet the minimum recommended levels of moderate- to vigorous-intensity physical activity (MVPA). Many people living in the U.S. spend up to 70% of their day in sitting or reclining positions.
