The article explores the economic impacts of local food procurement, which is a central component of farm-to-school (FTS) programs in the U.S. The economic impact of FTS beyond food procurement is tackled. The potential of FTS programs to leverage food procurement and educational programming to increase nutritional knowledge and skills among students is also discussed.
