The chromium doped Co-Mg ferrite with composition Co0.5Mg0.5Cr 0.2Fe 1.8O4has been synthesized using solgel auto combustion method. The crystal structure has been analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique. XRD pattern reveals the formation of single phase cubic spinel structure. The magnetic measurements show ferromagnetic behavior at room temperature and large coercivity is observed on cooling down the temperature to 20 K. Dielectric constant (ε') and dielectric loss tangent (tan δ) have been determined at room temperature as a function of frequency in the frequency range 75 kHz to 80 MHz. The decrease in dielectric constant with increasing frequency attributes to Maxwell Wagner model and conduction mechanism in ferrites. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
