The author considers the planned Texas Central project to build and operate a high speed line between Dallas and Houston as the first true high speed rail project in the U.S. He agrees with the viability of pairing the cities for high speed rail service, the quantifiable demand for travel between the cities and sufficiency of investment in transport infrastructure. Also discussed are the growth of passenger rail in the U.S. and Texas Central's route, station location, maintenance and operation.
