The article presents a study that deals with the within-person temporal stability of a comprehensive panel of cytokines and soluble receptor molecules of potential interest to etiologic studies. The study focused on molecules that are associated with the inflammatory responses and immune system activation and reveals the implications of estimates of the within-person temporal stability of serum markers for the design of prospective studies of chronic disease risk.
