Part of a special section on the Mathematical Contest in Modeling. The writers describe their solution to the problem of devising and comparing procedures for boarding and deboarding planes with varying numbers of passengers in order to minimize boarding times. They conclude that individual boarding sequence, reverse-pyramid, and outside-in are better than traditional back-to-front strategies for minimizing boarding time.
