Kinship placements are associated with greater stability and positive self-identity for children in foster care. Few studies, however, have explored the relationship between child immigration status and kinship placement. Findings from our exploratory study of placement of Latino children in Texas Department of Family and Protective Services care indicate that a significantly lower proportion of undocumented children are placed in kinship placements compared to other children.
