The article discusses the school classroom research topic of change in teachers' practices by considering its four approaches. The first approach "Make-them-eat-cake" is a forced approach which is applicable when changes are mandated without the participation of teachers. The second approach "Where's-the-cake?" may be taken by educational administrators to offer a set of research-based practices and suggests their adoption by teachers. In the third "Let them eat cake" approach, teachers are required or encouraged to participate in continuing education activities. The fourth approach "You can have your cake and eat it, too" is an educative approach in which, researcher's knowledge is used by teachers to craft the educational outcomes they seek.
