The writers discuss their use of research synthesis as a teaching strategy to enhance knowledge of the research process among advanced practice nursing students. The curriculum requires students to take two research application courses that are sequenced to enable them to work on a project over two semesters. In the first research application course, students perform computer applications and develop their research skills before selecting a problem area and the type of data for their research project. Students complete this project by conducting a literature review or simple meta-analysis during the second research application course.
