The article presents discussion regarding negative trends in "hurrying" child development out of the infancy and toddler stages. The author points out several areas where popular 21st-century society pushes young children to adopt more mature practices too early. Practices such as breast feeding and toilet training are mentioned. Suggestions are given to slow down social pressures toward over-rapid maturation.
