Light hydrocarbon-condensate-gathering pipelines recently have exhibited internal corrosion problems in a gas/water/light hydrocarbon mixture. This study addresses the aggressiveness of the environment and possible corrosion prevention methods. Despite the low general corrosion rates measured, internal pitting was observed even in the presence of a corrosion inhibitor. This investigation suggested that the presence of condensate may affect the susceptibility of steel to pitting.
