In this study, Tm3+/Dy3+ co-doped phosphate glasses (PTDs) were prepared by a common melt-quenching method. The prepared glass has excellent thermal expansion coefficient and refractive index. Eight unique absorption bands are found in the 300 − 750 nm wavelength. Und 354 nm excitation, PTDs emit blue, greenish-blue, yellow and red light at 452 nm, 483 nm, 574 and 663 nm, belonging to 1D2 → 3F4 and 4F9/2 → 6HJ (J = 15/2, 13/2 and 11/2) electron transitions of Tm3+ and Dy3+ ions. In addition, the calculation shows that PT0.3D0.50 has excellent chromaticity coordinates (0.3345, 0.3329), appropriate correlated colour temperature (CCT) (5405.38 K) and relatively high fluorescence lifetime (0.5060 ms), which can produce superior white light. The energy transfer (ET) between Dy3+ and Tm3+ ions result from the electric dipole-quadrupole interaction. All investigations indicated that PTDs have a huge potential application in white light emitting diode (W-LED) devices.
