Threshold and Efficiency of an Optial Parametric Generator as Functions of Cavity and Pump Parameters

A simple method for optimizing the parameters of ring optical parametric generator cavities is proposed. Expressions describing the threshold and efficiency of continuous wave generation as functions of the cavity parameters at the frequencies of the interacting waves are obtained. It is shown that the threshold is proportional to the product of the losses of interacting waves and that the generation efficiency as a function of the output mirror reflection coefficient for the signal wave has a maximum. The expressions determining the height and position of this maximum are given.
