There is a paucity of informal opportunities to learn about surgical education research. Through a partnership with the Association for Surgical Education (ASE) and the Society for Improving Medical Professional Learning (SIMPL), we developed the Surgical Education Research Seminar Series in early 2022. This virtual free series is intended for all those interested in furthering their knowledge and skills in education research, including surgical education fellows, surgical trainees, and surgical faculty. Expert speakers from across the country are recruited by a team of two surgical education research fellows and two faculty sponsors. Each speaker discusses a surgical education topic within their expertise. A brief post-session survey is distributed to all attendees to gain feedback and solicit suggestions for improvement. All seminars are recorded and posted on an online platform for those unable to attend synchronously. Over the last 17 months, a total of 12 seminars were conducted. Faculty speakers represented 11 different institutions. Attendance ranged from 19 to 68 participants. Overall, this seminar series is a unique resource for anyone interested in furthering their knowledge of surgical education research. Adding new partnerships may allow for increased engagement and visibility of this series.
