At first glance the following case report seems to be connected to the spectacular arsenic poisonings of the past. During a conflict concerning divorce between a 70-year-old man and his 40-year-old wife symptoms of arsenic poisoning occurred in the man. After his dog suddenly died in the best of health the man consulted his physician and blood tests revealed an increased level of arsenic. Toxicological analyses of samples taken during forensic examination of the married couple and exhumation of the dog also showed conspicuous increases of arsenic levels in the specimens from the man and his wife.
