The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of functional pillow use on trapezius muscle tone and EEG. The study subjects compared before and after using functional pillows among 12 people in their 30 and older residing in metropolitan city D. The results of this study are as follows. First, the use of functional pillows showed lower muscle tone in trapezius and sternocleidomastoid muscles than other pillows in the supine position(p<.05). Second, the use of functional pillows showed lower muscle tone in trapezius and sternocleidomastoid muscles than other pillows in the lateral position(p<.05). Third, the use of functional pillows did not show a significant difference in the beta wave of EEG, but there was a statistically significant difference in the alpha wave and theta wave(p<.05). Fourth, when evaluating the usability of functional pillows, it was found to be higher than other pillows in all indicators such as product performance, ease of use and suitability. Through these results, it is judged that the use of functional pillows can eliminate the causes of sleep disturbances such as straight neck and snoring by inducing the C-curve of the cervical spine at the height of the pillow that considers the body type that is considered important when sleeping.
