Kuandian Manchu Autonomous County is a small town located on the border of Northeast China, where some traditional folk ceremonies are still preserved. Among them, Kuandian Dan Gu Ceremony is an ancient folk worship ceremony for expressing gratitude, integrated into various aspects of local people’s daily life, and carrying the simple spiritual needs of Kuandian people. The “Kuandian Dan Gu Ceremony Music” that emerged from the Dan Gu Ceremony is a comprehensive traditional folk art form that mainly features singing and integrates instrumental music, dance, and other music forms. Music is an important component of Dan Gu Ceremony, not only guiding the ceremony but also representing its external expression. Based on field research on Kuandian Dan Gu Ceremony Music, this article have analyzed the characteristics of the music, including its forms of expression and melodic features. It also explains the cultural functions of the music from various perspectives, such as education and cultural heritage. As an important component of Chinese folk ceremonial music, the study of Kuandian Dan Gu Ceremony Music and its cultural functions could provide meaningful data for understanding the Dan Gu Ceremony, as well as Chinese folk ceremonial music and Chinese folk culture.
