As cultural exchange and cooperation have increased between China and Korea, Korean variety shows are enjoying great popularity with Chinese audiences. At the same time, Korean programming is continuously being imported by China. Overall, diversified cooperation is increasingly happening between the two countries with regard to staffing, television broadcasting, and production companies. Despite being in its boom days, China"s variety show market has encountered many problems, especially with its model of import and cooperation. In this article, the authors examine the history of cooperation between China and Korea on variety show development, summarize models of collaboration, analyze underlying problems, and propose feasible solutions.
