This paper looked at the path of meaning extension of Chinese ‘完全(wanquan)’ and Korean ‘완전(wanjeon)’ and considered common points and differences. The results can be arranged in two ways: First, adverbs ‘wanquan’ and ‘wanjeon’ have different paths of meaning extension. ‘wanquan’ is an extension of the meaning of an adjective that represents a range. ‘wanjeon’ is an extension of a noun. The adverb ‘wanquan’ refers to the whole range of events or facts expressed by a predicate. ‘wanjeon’ may not only serve the range of predicate, but also function to emphasize degree or speaker’s tone. Second, adverbs ‘wanquan’ and ‘wanjeon’ show different aspects when combined with verb or adjective predicate. ‘wanjeon’ is more freely associated with a verb or adjective than ‘wanquan’. This is because the semantic function of ‘wanjeon’ extends more than ‘wanquan’ and can do more.
