OBJECTIVE:: To investigate the long-term complications in patients recovered from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection. METHODS:: We will perform a meta-analysis and will search multiple electronic databases (PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane library) with predefined search terms to identify eligible articles. Eligible studies should report long-term complications of COVID-19 infection worldwide. Case reports, case series, observational studies with cross-sectional or prospective research design, case-control studies, and experimental studies will be included. Study quality will be evaluated by two reviewers independently using the statistical methodology and categories guided by the Cochrane Collaboration Handbook and PRISMA guidelines. RESULTS:: This study will explore and integrate the evidence available on the long-term complications of COVID-19 infection in various organ systems. CONCLUSION:: By acquiring and statistically analyzing the data about these complications, this study will generate an extensive knowledge on the topic for a better management of the post pandemic healthcare related to COVID-19.
