Working with Mathieu Vigneron in 1585, Étienne Gauthier completed a monumental altarpiece for the church of St-Pierre in Dôle, where it can still be seen. This work, set within twined pillars, consists of a central panel with a carved crucifixion and four niches containing the statues of Saints Peter, Paul, Sebastian and Jerome.
