Murals, stage sets, posters. Nicola Simbari entered the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome in 1940 where he first studied architecture before opting for painting. He moved to London in 1958, returning to Grottaferrata near Rome in 1962. In 1953, he designed some stage sets, and in 1958 painted a mural for the Exposition Universelle in Brussels. His work is semi-abstract in style and consists of lively motifs created in fresh, light colours usually applied with a palette knife. He was awarded a gold medal for the best poster in 1954.
