Purpose: The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of self-scalp massage on adult stress in adults over 20 years of age nationwide. Methods: The survey was conducted on adults over 20 years of age nationwide, and the survey was conducted online. A self-scalp massage program with an actual picture was attached to the questionnaire, and a self-scalp massage was easily conducted on one’s own scalp to fill out and write about before and after the self-scalp massage. The survey was conducted on 423 people for about 4 weeks from September 1, 2021 to September 30, 2021.423 copies of the online questionnaire were collected, and a total of 412 copies were used as valid samples, excluding 11 copies that were judged to be unfaithful responses. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 24.0. Result: First, the differences in stress symptoms before and after self-scalp massage were investigated. The stress measures of depression, cognitive impairment, anxiety, anger, and VAS were all lower than those of depression, cognitive impairment, anxiety, anger, and VAS before and after self-scalp massage after self-scalp massage, indicating a positive effect on stress. Second, the difference in stress symptoms before and after self-scalp massage was investigated according to the degree of self-scalp massage interest. It was found that the degree of depression and cognitive impairment reduction was higher than once or twice a month (F=3.331, p<.05), and the degree of anxiety reduction was higher than 5 minutes (F=3.486, p<.05), indicating that the degree of anger reduction was higher in imagination twice a week and three times a week than once or twice a month (F=3.599, p<.05), and the degree of VAS reduction was higher than 5 minutes in 10 and 15 minutes or more (F=5.478, p<.01), so the positive effect of self-scalp massage significantly increased when interest in self-scalp massage was high. Conclusion: As stress items and total stress levels decrease after self-scalp massage, it will be possible to use it as a practical and effective program that can be easily accessed in daily life with low time consumption and easy refreshment for adults living a busy modern life amid excessive stress.
