After the untact era, 3D garment simulation technology has been introduced into the fashion industry, and the demand for 3D garment simulation technology has increased, along with the growth of the market for 3D virtual avatars. This study aims to propose a practical workflow model optimized for avatar creation in the fashion industry and collect opinions from 3D fashion experts. Based on the theoretical background and previous studies on avatar creation, a workflow model for avatar creation was proposed. Through preliminary research and in-depth interviews with fashion industry 3D designers, the model was refined. An optimized avatar creation process model for the fashion industry was then established and validated through interviews. In the first stage, the group of 3D designers creating virtual avatars was separated from those who do not, aiming to lead professionalism in avatar creation from the second stage onwards. In the second stage, detailed workflow models were derived by separating sub-stages in Modeling, Texturing, and Rigging through in-depth expert interviews. Modeling involved Face Sculpting, Body Sculpting, and Hair Setting. Texturing followed UV Mapping, Texture Baking, and Skin PostProcess, while Rigging involved Set Rig, Prop Parent, and Motion. In the third stage, the practical effectiveness of the workflow model was validated through in-depth interviews, and opinions were collected. This study is expected to contribute to the digital transformation of the fashion industry in South Korea by establishing a professional and fashion-optimized workflow model for the increasing 3D virtual avatars in the fashion industry and providing basic data for subsequent research.
