The purpose of the study is to explore the educational meaning of the teachers’ family bereavement. For this purpose, the following specific directions were investigated. 1. What are the teacher’s bereavement experience? 2. What does the teachers’ family bereavement experience mean? This study’s participants are two teachers who went through a bereavement of a family member. To understand in depth their unique experience, this study conducted a narrative inquiry which is effective in exploring individual experience. The findings from the narrative inquiry are as follows. First, the teachers’ family bereavement is ‘an unexpected life event’ that caused great change. Second, the change in teachers’ lives and values began with ‘a different perspective on family bereavement’, which led to adaptation to a new life. Third, teachers’ personal change in their lives and values was revealed to interact with educational values and affect educational activities. The suggestion based on the conclusion of this study is that support is needed for emotional stability and comfort of teachers suffering from life events.
