This study examines the process of image formation of Bhutan, called the last ‘Shangri-La’, and examines how it is being reproduced through the media. This article reviews the image of ‘Noble Savage’, a Western perspective that helps to understand others in exotic cultures. It analyzes how this perspective was reflected in Bhutan-related videos produced by EBS’s travel culture program World Theme Tour. Bhutan has been changing under the influence of globalization since the 2000s. However, Bhutan’s images on EBS’s World Theme Tour, which has produced more than 20 videos over the past 10 years from 2008, remain not so much changed. This study raises the need to examine critically the perspective and representation on other cultures. It helps to produce the visual contents that based on current and real knowledge and information on the locals. It could also be the basis of the mutual communication between cultures.
