The existence and activity of the Songping-River fault have been very controversial. It is of great theoretical and practical significance to find out the distribution and activity of the fault. In this paper, the activity of the Songping-River fault was analyzed based on historical earthquakes research and Digital elevation model. (1) Combining with the field geological investigation and Audio magnetotelluric method, the position of controversial Songping-River fault was determined. (2) According to the characteristics of outcrop, the mechanical property and movement property were analyzed. (3) The active intensity of the fault was discussed based on historical seismic data and geomorphic parameters analysis. The result shows that the Songping-River basin has a strong tectonic activity and the controlled fault distributes in three segments along the valley. Among them, the northwest one starts from Maishizhai and roughly extends to the vicinity of Huazilin along Songping River, tending to NE. The middle one is from Waerbao to the vicinity of the Bailazhai Village along Songping River. The southeast one is from the runoff of Gunshui ditch to the runoff of Songping River. Both the middle and the southeast segments tend to SW. All the three segments show the compression, while the outcrop of the southeast segment is characterized by left-lateral slip along with thrust component. In addition, the activity of the middle and the southeastern segments are stronger than that of the northwest segment. The research can provide reference and guidance for the prevention and control of earthquake geological disasters in the Songping-River basin and similar areas.
