A new respiratory infection called COVID-19 occurred at the end of 2019. It rapidly spread throughout the world and led to a pandemic. As a result, the Republic of Korea's exhibition industry faced a recession. Thus, it is necessary to understand the perceived risk of COVID-19 of exhibition consumers and potential exhibition visitors and find a way to gather the visitors to the physical exhibition. To achieve the purpose of this study, perceived risk, a risk reduction strategy, and behavior intention were redefined based on a theoretical approach. A survey of visitors who attended shows was performed in April and May 2021 at convention and exhibition centers (COEX, SETEC) to analyze the structural relationship between the variables. The results show that there is a structural relationship between potential exhibition visitors' perceived risk, risk reduction strategy, and behavior intention. However, the physical risk among the perceived risk did not significantly affect the risk reduction strategy, assuming that the risk of COVID-19 decreased due to vaccination and was prolonged. This empirical study is believed to provide theoretical and practical implications to professional exhibition organizers. Therefore, when another pandemic like COVID-19 occurs, this study can help organizers seek practical solutions for it.
