중국은 유수한 UNESCO 세계문화유산 만리장성, 병마용과 대운하 등을 보유하고 있다. 이러한 관광자원을 찾는 최근 관광객이 급증하다 보니, 지역의 따른 숙박시설, 편의시설, 안전, 교통, 청결 등 여러 사항들이 부각되고 있다. 한편 세계문화유산이 있는 지역에서 경제, 정치, 상업, 사회, 문화 등 활성화에 크게 기여해오고 있다. 이러한 견지에서 각 지방정부의 지역들은 세계문화유산을 지속 가능하게 할 필요성이 있다. 따라서 세계문화유산을 연구 대상으로 하여 지역의 새로운 가치와 변화에 대응할 수 있는 전략 모색이 필요한 상황이다. 중국 강소성 UNESCO 대운하 문화 유적은 가장 대표적인 관광자원이며 지속 가능한 문화유산 관리가 절대적으로 필요한 실정이다. 특히 강소성 대운하는 지역 경제에 중요한 역 할을 해오고 있을 뿐만 아니라 대운하가 경유하는 지역의 이미지 상승과 함께 많은 분야에서 혜택을 주어왔다. 대운하를 중심으로 한 세계문화유산으로 독특한 특징을 가지고 있는데, 하지만 지명도가 높은 반면 지역민의 의견 차이가 발생할 수 있는 것을 알 수 있다. 즉, 운하지역 주민과 강소성 근거리 관광객은 세계문화유산 인식차이를 보일 것이다. 이러한 관점에서 본 연구에서는 강소성 지역주민들을 지역에 따른 대운하 문화유산을 운하지역과 근거리관광지로 나누어 분석하고자 한다.
China has a number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Recently, as the number of tourists looking for these tourism resources has increased rapidly, various matters such as accommodation, convenience facilities, safety, transportation, and cleanliness are highlighted by region. Meanwhile, it has greatly contributed to the revitalization of the economy, politics, commerce, society, and culture in regions with world cultural heritage sites. In this light, cities of each local government need to make the World Heritage Site sustainable. Therefore, it is necessary to find a strategy that can respond to new values and changes in local cities by targeting world cultural heritage. The UNESCO Grand Canal Cultural Site in Jiangsu Province, China, is the most representative tourism resource and sustainable management of such cultural heritage is absolutely necessary. In particular, the Grand Canal of Jiangsu Province has not only played an important role in the local economy but has also benefited in many fields along with the rise of the image of the region through which the Grand Canal passes. It has a unique characteristic as a World Heritage Site centered on the Grand Canal, but while it has a high level of recognition, it can be seen that local residents may have differences of opinion. In other words, cultural heritage local residents and local tourists from Jiangsu Province will show a difference in their perception of World Cultural Heritage sites. Therefore, examining whether the perception of cultural heritage of the residents may be different depending on the departure region of Jiangsu tourists could be of great import. From this perspective, this study intends to analyze and verify the recognition characteristics of the cultural heritage of the Grand Canal by the local residents of Jiangsu Province.
