Livestock excretions contain nutrients that crops need, so it can be used as a fertilizer resource through proper composting. The livestock compost made of these has various application effects on soil and crops depending on the mixing ratio of raw materials and their forms. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of livestock manure granular compost (LMGC) and livestock manure powdery compost (LMPC) as basic fertilizers to be replaced with chemical fertilizer (CF) or mixed expeller cake (MEC). For explained above, the experiment was conducted on potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L.) in immature open field lacking organic matter (OM), available phosphate (avail. P2O5) and exchangeable cations. The amount of the application was calculated on soil testing application level by the nitrogen recommendation and the amount of insufficient component was supplemented with CF. The plant weight in LMPC plot was heavier than that of LMGC plot and similar to that of CF plot. Also, the production and commercial yield in LMPC plot were not different from that of CF, and were more favorable than that of LMGC in yield. The content of OM and avail. P2O5 in soil after experiment was increased to some extent in two LMC plots compared to CF plot, in which the nutrient content was showed an effect of improving in soils that lack nutrients. These results suggest that the livestock compost is effective in being used for nutrient supply according to the soil test results considering the amount of ingredients, purpose of use, and cultivated crops. In the future, further study are needed for the long-term changes in soil environment, time-cycle application, and effect of crop quality due to applying of livestock compost.
