The right pleural cavity and lung are involvd by direcet extension from the liver in 10 to 20 percent of patients with liver abscess, pulmonary amebiasis is diagnosed by typical chocolate like sputum X-Ray findings and history of having had amebic dysentery, the trophozoites are rerly demonstrated in pleural fluid or sputum, this paper presents a case of the pulmonary amebiasis which is thought to be direct extension from the amebic liver abscess. The patient was 30 years old Korean Man Having history of amebic dysentery about 6 years ago, 20 days prior to admission he begun to complain severe cough, chocolate like sputum and remittent fever with chills, the plain chest roentgenogram reveled obliteration of the Rt costophrenic angle, pleural reaction, diffuse and soft infiltration of the Rt lower Lung field and localized bulge, Following aspiration of the liver abscess Radioopaque Material was immediately replaced, this film disclosed penetration of the radioopaque material through Rt diaphragm and multiple abscess in right middle lung field, As William and Klaskin previously pointed out we also tried, Emetin and Chloroqune theraphy with antibiotics, As a result of such a therapeutic trial dramatic response was obtained.
