The view that defines motherhood in a social structure is derived from the dichotomous division of gender that men are public beings outside the house and women are private beings in the house. This reality is structured in a way that is institutionally reproduced and takes its place as a maternal ideology that justifies women's subordination. Chodorow explains that this is because mothers who have internalized maternal ideology reproduce daughters with the same desires. This article starts from the theory of Cho-ro that the mother's "motherhood," which internalizes maternal ideology, constantly creates a cycle of reproduction through her daughter. And I tried to find out that the narrative describing the type of mother that does not fit her theory fails to reproduce motherhood. Mothers who do not internalize the ideology that justifies women's subordination are mothers who appear in Kim Ae-ran's novels, and appear through aspects that subvert the existing image of women and mothers. The mothers who jumped into the desire to strengthen the patriarchal system are the mothers who appear in Park Seo-ryun's novels, and appear in a way that is dismantled through the narrator's satire.
