This study empirically analyzes whether recommended books overlap between schools and quantitatively analyzes the extent to which recommended books lead to actual loans. Recommended books have the characteristic of having various study areas and deep contents among proved books by their educational value and importance. Books are reading media which is strongly related to education in schools and it is necessary to analyze how books are being utilized and what kind of books are being recommended and the frequency of their educational usage need to be analyzed. School libraries provide the methods of choosing books to help students. Classical books and book lists related to the school curriculum, books from textbooks, and one book a semester are being used for the book reading program. reading education using recommended books increase interest and bring reading vitalization. In order to find out how recommended books are being utilized, the study of analyzing loan frequency statistics is needed. In this study, four hypotheses are established. First, The degree of overlap between schools in recommended books will be high. Second, there will be difference in loan frequency of recommended books in different schools. Third, there will be a difference in loan frequency of recommended books among different grade groups. Fourth, the reliability of recommended books will be high. For this study, elementary schools book recommendation list, surveys, interview data of 18 elementary schools in Kyung-ki do in 2019. Also, possible 2019’s loan data of 13 schools were collected. In the end, the result analysis was discussed based on librarians’ surveys and interviews. First, the degree of overlap among schools in recommended books was found to be low. As a result of conducting a similarity comparison of the entire recommended book list by the school, it was analyzed that the similarity was low in practice. In the school field, terms such as recommended list, recommended book, and must-read book are used interchangeably. It includes classical books, curriculum-related books, books used in textbooks, books recommended by each institution, and self-selection books for librarians. In addition, the recommended book selection criteria are not clear, and we feel the need for the recommended book selection criteria. Secondly, it was found that there were differences among schools in the amount of loans of recommended books. The recommended book list affects the total amount of school loans. According to the survey, the difference in the number of loans of recommended books between schools is indicated even though they are actively guiding the posting of recommended books on the school website and distribution of all students. This shows that the use of recommended books is a big factor, along with the impact of including curriculum-linked books and reading books per semester in the recommended book list. Third, the amount of loans for each grade of recommended books also differed. Low-grade loans were found to be high in all schools. In particular, the high frequency of loans for first graders may vary, but it can be seen that the amount of loans is high due to the degree of reading education for each school, the impact of the reading environment of schools and families, and short picture books for lower grades. Fourth, librarians' confidence in recommended book lists is high in surveys and interviews. The librarians' confidence in recommended book lists is high as a result of surveys and interviews. When asked if they trust the recommended list of books, 15 out of 18 respondents said they trust the questionnaire. This represents 83% of all respondents, which is considered highly reliable. In this study, the frequency of loans in the recommended book list may be part of the utility analysis, but the trend of loans in the recommended book list is clearly different by school and grade. The utility of recommended books has been verified through loan statistics analysis, which will be the basis for the recommended use of books in elementary school libraries. Through this analysis, students can look at the latest popular books as well as loan trends of long-loved books, and it will be a source of useful information using library big data. Various follow-up studies are proposed to enhance the effectiveness of recommended books through active use that motivates students to read them.
