Choreography was a field that did not receive much attention compared to songs or singers in the past, but as K-pop achieved great commercial success, the importance and status of choreography increased even more. Amid these changes, the movement to protect choreography copyrights began, and the video-based motion capture technology, which has been greatly developed with the development of artificial intelligence technology, provided an environment in which choreography movements could be tracked and analyzed at low cost.Recently, as the paradigm of new content services such as the metaverse has changed, the general public has become an environment where choreography contents are produced and participated in, and the risk of ideas being stolen or plagiarized in creating choreography has increased. However, there seems to be little research using the latest technology to prepare a practical guide for choreography copyright protection. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a technique that can determine the similarity of choreography using motion capture technology. First, through case studies at home and abroad, we examine the creative expression and similarity judgment criteria of choreography works, which are the basic elements in determining copyright infringement of popular music choreography. Then, through interviews with choreography experts, the range of similarity of choreography, body parts that affect similarity judgment, and weights are set. Finally, a method for deriving similarity by extracting choreography motion data in video using artificial intelligence technology is presented, and its effectiveness is verified through the proposed experiment. As a result of this paper, it was confirmed that the similarity with weights applied to choreography movements is included in the range of quantitative similarity from the choreography expert's point of view, and is effective.Recently, various artificial intelligence-based techniques have been developed that can perform motion tracking using only images taken with a smartphone. Effects are expected, and as a result, copyright protection of choreography and activation of related culture are expected.
