This paper investigates the communication breakdowns of English as a lingua franca in international business school of Korea. First, it will discuss the epistemology of English as a lingua franca and what the debates about English as a lingua franca mean. Then it will record and discuss the role of oral communication in English and works that have been in specific texts used by the international community, such as student-to-student group discussion, student-to-professor midterm interviews and student-to-student free lunch conversation. It will explore the effective business school students’ interactions and issues with the applicability of the model of communication competence. It will investigate sources of miscommunication methodology; apply to the authentic data of Lingua Franca talk. It attempts to figure out the special markers, sources for these miscommunications via different social real verbal conversations and how the participants might deal with communication breakdowns in the future as well as how to promote effectively teaching and learning in English for English teachers in global context.
