This purpose of this study is to find the influence of mother’s overprotection and school learning motivation perceived by high school students on career attitude maturity and to provide baseline data on career guidance to high school students. The research questions set forth are as follows. First, how does mother’s overprotection perceived by high school students to the child influence its career attitude maturity? Second, how does the learning motivation influence one’s career attitude maturity? Third, how do mother’s overprotection perceived by high school students and learning motivation influence the career attitude maturity of the child? The subject of the study was picked randomly from two high schools in Gyeonggi Province and total of 229 samples of data using SPSS 21.0 was used in the analysis. A correlation analysis was conducted to investigate the relationship between each survey tool and multiple regression analysis was conducted to assess the influence of mother's overprotection perceived by high school students and learning motivation on career attitude maturity. The research tools used were 'overprotection scale' by Jung, EunYoung(2008), 'School Learning Motivation Scale'(Kim, YoungRae, 2000) for learning motivation for learners, and the Attitude section from Career Maturity Test (CMI) developed by Lim, Eun et al.(2001). Summary of the results of this study is as follows. First, it appears that mother’s overprotection perceived by high school students does have meaningful impact on the child’s career attitude maturity. Therefore, mother’s overprotection perceived by high school students have negative impact on the career attitude maturity. Second, based on the results which says that the learning motivation of high school students has a statistically significant effect on the attitude maturity of career attitude, we can learn that higher school learning motivation can lead to higher career attitude maturity. Third, in the context of the influence on career maturity from mother’s overprotection perceived by high school students and learning motivation; career maturity increases when mother’s overprotection perceived by high school students was controlled and learning motivation was increased, however, if the school motivation was controlled, higher mother’s overprotection perceived by high school students had lead to lower career attitude maturity. Such results showed that the mother’s overprotection perceived by high school students and learning motivation have significant impact on career attitude maturity of the child. Therefore, for the development of career attitude maturity of the high school students, the family and schools need to put efforts to stimulate the students’ inspiration on learning motivation by avoiding mother’s overprotection to ensure the child’s proper isolation and independence so the motivation for learning is developed.Key word: high school students, mother’s overprotection, learning motivation, career attitude maturity.
