This study was conducted to establish the systematic and integrative model by analyzing the results of preceding studies based on Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory and by distinguishing the microsystem factors and personal system factors which affect the mental health of university students and lay the foundation of effective approach and development of nursing intervention for enhancing the mental health of university students. Methods : This study is a cross-sectional research which examines the casual relationship between each factor by explaining the mental health of university students and by presenting predictors based on Bronfenbrenner's ecological systems theory. Data was collected from university students from Aug, 2015 to Sep, 2015, and with the collected data, the correlation between the general characteristics and mental health-related characteristics of the subjects and variables was analyzed using SPSS 20.0 program and goodness of fit test of model and hypothesis test were analyzed using Amos 20.0 program. Results : As for goodness of fit index of research model, goodness of fit of x2=614.90(p=.000), Q value=3.5, GFI=.88, AGFI=.84, NFI=.92, NNFI=.94, CFI=.94, RMR=.02, RMSEA=.08 was revealed, which shows that research model is proper to the supposition. The total of 8 paths of the 12 ones set in the model were supported. It was revealed that the direct effect and total effect were significant in parents' rearing attitude→self-esteem, social support→self-esteem, stress→stress coping style, social support→stress coping style, stress→mental health, self-esteem→mental health, stress coping style→mental health and that the indirect effect was significant in parents' rearing attitude→mental health. As a result of this study, it was certified that the stress has the highest effect on the mental health and that the mental health is affected by the proper stress coping style, self-esteem and parents’ rearing attitude. Conclusion : It is judged that the mental health model of university students which is established by this study model is a proper and comprehensive model as it includes the variables in the model, considering the microsystem factors which affect the development of personal system with the continuous interaction between the personal system of university students and environment. The tested variables can be the important intervention factors which enhance the mental health of university students through nursing intervention. That is, it is considered that in order to enhance the mental health of university students, the nursing intervention which promotes stress management, the enhancement of self-esteem and the improvement of stress coping ability should be developed and that the intervention which is used in the scene of a school and mental health practice should be performed.
